Success Has Landed & Government Insiders

Happy Rainy Fall, peeps!

(Do people still say peeps? If so, should I have written 'Do peeps still say peeps?' I'm lost.)

These past few weeks, with a small intermission coming in the form of Veteran's Day, have been busy busy! But we've kept the airwaves full of shows, first with "Success Has Landed," and then "Government Insiders."

Side note: both of those titles sound like Duran Duran albums.

"Success" gave us a little departure from our usual banter, as we had students from Shoshana Zeisman's Roads to Success course call in and answer some general PSU questions. It was, admittedly, the highest call volume we've EVER HAD IN THE HISTORY OF THE SHOW. Needless to say, we felt it was a...SUCCESS. HAHAHAHAHAHA!

In the little contest we held based on an entirely arbitrary set of rules and points being awarded, there was a three-way tie for the winner. These three champions will appear on the show - LIVE - in the Winter, to determine who is the real Turntable Champion of the Portland-Metro Area. Get your popcorn kids, CAUSE IT JUST GOT REAL REAL UP IN HERE.

"Government" featured our very special guest Jessica Douglas, who was nice enough to drop by and talk about her experience with internships, PSU, and working for the Federal government. She's a full-time worker, a full-time student, and a full-time awesome amazing inspiration. She also earned the first ever Turntable Advising Gold Star award, which I'm sure she'll note on her resume from here on out.

If you are interested in contacting Jessica about federal government work and getting tips on how to apply for internships and positions you can send her an email to douglas2@pdx.edu or check out the federal government facebook page, www.facebook.com/promotepublicservice .

Next week, we'll be back with a visit from a School of Business Administration adviser (I see you Haley!) and a current student, and if you're lucky, we'll spend seven minutes talking about Coos Bay again.

(And we won't even throw shade at North Bend this time.)
